Karu sailed yesterday afternoon fer Oamaru, Timarn, and Lyttelton, to complete loading for 'Wellington, Nelson, and New Plymouth. Kaimai was expected to leave Westport to-day for Bluff and Dunedin, and is due here on Tuesday. After discharging a quantity of coal, she will sail for Oamaru. Gale is expected here on Tuesday to load for Wellington and Auckland via Timarn and Lyttelton. Holmdale was expected to come out of dock at Port Chalmers this afternoon and load at Dunedin. She v ’’l sail late this evening for Wellington, Picton, and Wanganui via ports. Parera was expected this afternoon, to load and sail this evening for Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, New Plymouth, and Port Waikato. Holmglen is due hero on Monday to load and sail the r line day for northern ports. Overseas. Capo Horn is due here to-morrow, and after discharge of her Pacific Coast cargo will sail on Monday for Melbourne, Sydney, Fiji, Apia, Vancouver, and San Francisco. Port Adelaide is c pected to sail this evening for Timaru to complete Homeward loading. Kaikorai is expected to sail to-mor-row for Bluff and Westport to load for Sydney. From Sydney she will proceed to Wellington to commence discharge of Australian cargo. Canadian Constructor is expected hero to-morrow from Vancouver via Bluff. She is to sail the same clay for Lyttelton to complete discharge of her Pacific Coast cargo. INTERISLAND EXPRESS. The interisland express steamer Maori arrived at Lyttelton from Wellington at 6.45 this morning. Passengers and mail for the south connected with the express. TRANSPACIFIC MAIL SERVICES. —Northbound.— Niagara left Sydney on May 21. and Auckland on May 26 for Vancouver via Suva and Honolulu. She is due at Vancouver on June 12. Monterey left Sydney on May 27 and is to leave Auckland on May 30/ for San Francisco via Suva, Pago Pago, Honolulu.. She is due at San Francisco on June 15. Maunganui is to leave Sydney on June 4 and Wellington on June 9 for San Francisco via Papeete and Rarotonga. She is due at San Francisco on June 26. Aorangi is to leave Sydney on June 18 and Auckland on June 23 for Vancouver via Suva and Honolulu. She is due at Vancouver on July 10. The Port Waikato left West Haven for Sydney on May 21. After discharging her timber cargo the vessel will load at New South Wales ports for New Zealand, where- she is due early in June. PASSENGER LICENSE. Messrs Neill and Co. advise that the Australia-Oriental Company has been granted a passenger license for coastwise passengers booked from New Zealand. TUSCAN STAR EN ROUTE. The Tuscan Star left Liverpool on Sunday for Auckland, Napier, Wellington. Lyttelton, and Dunedin. She is due at Auckland on July 1. RARANGA COMING. The Ilaranga left Liverpool on Saturday afternoon for Australia, where she will discharge cargo, and New Zealand, to load. RANGITANE HOMEWARD BOUND. The Now Zealand Shipping Company advises that the llangitano. which left Auckland on May 7. arrived at Balboa on tlio afternoon of May 26 and sailed from Cristobal on tbc afternoon of May 27. She is duo at Loudon cn June 9, PERSONAL. Word has been received that Captain Jermyn, the popular commander of the Hobson’s Bay, has retired, and that Captain W. C. Meek, formerly chief officer of the Largs Bay, has been appointed commander of the Hobson’s Bay. LONDON SHIPPING. During the week ended April 9, 1,085 vessels, representing 922,483 net regisler tons, used the Port‘of London, states the Port of London Authority, Of these, 435 vessels (719.657: net register tons) were to and from Empire and foreign ports, and 650 vessels (202,826 net register tons) were _ engaged in coastwise traffic. The arrivals included six meat cargoes — viz., three from Australia, two from New Zealand, and one from South America, comprising 269.000 carcases of lamb and mutton, 08.000 quarters of beef, quantities of pork, rabbits, and sundries. NEW MAIERFORM SHIPS. No fewer than seven vessels built on the Maierform principle were launched from various yards during the month of April. They include four cargo steamers building in Germany, two of them for the Argo, Reederei A.G.. Bremen, one for Messrs Otto A. Muller, Ham-

burg. and the fourth for Messrs H. Scheldt, Hamburg; two trawlers building at Hamburg for the Cranzer Fischejampi’er A.G., Altona, and Messrs Carsten Rebder, Hamburg, respectively ; and the motor tanker Grcna, under construction by Kodkums Mck. Ycrkstads. Malmo, for Messrs Camillo Eitzen, Oslo. AUSTRALIA-NEW ZEALAND. Monowai left Sydney on May 22 for Wellington, Auckland, and Sydney. She arrived at Wellington on May 25, at Auckland yesterday, and is due at Sydney on June 1. Waitaki is to leave Melbourne on June 3 for Bluff, Dunedin, Lyttelton, and Wellington. She is due at Dunedin on June 9. Omana is expected to load at Editbburg on June 2, and Adelaide on June 4 for Auckland. Portland. Wellington. Lytelton, and Dunedin, She is due at Auckland on June 13. Karetu is expected to leave Sydney on June 1 for Bluff, Dunedin, Timaru, and Lyttelton. She is due here on June 7. Kaikorai will sail from Port Chalmers to-morrow for Bluff to load for Sydney. The vessel will load Australian cargo at Sydney and Newcastle for Wellington. MONTREAL—AUSTRALIA—N.Z. NEW SHIPPING SERVICE. (Per United Press Association.l WELLINGTON, May 28. In connection with the new Mon-treal-Austvalia-New Zealand line, the New Zealand Shipping Company has received advice that the New Zealand head office of the company will be 'in Wellington. It is the intention that the now line shall run a regular service from Montreal, and in the Canadian winter months from Halifax to Australia and New Zealand, and a return service from Australian and .New Zealand main ports to New York, Boston, Montreal, or Halifax. It is probable that the present steamers will be supplemented by faster vessels. IN RADIO RANGE.
