LABOUR PARTY EXTENSION
RAPID INCREASE OF BRANCHES AFFILIATION OF CIVIL SERVANTS HOPED FOB [Per United Press Association.] AUCKLAND. May 28. Hopes are entertained by the New Zealand Labour Party that, with the removal of the restrictions on Civil servants’organisations, they will affiliate with the party, according to Mr 1). Wilson, national secretary, who is visiting Auckland. “ The progress of the party has been remarkable,” particularly since the election.” said Mr Wilson to an interviewer. “At the end of the financial year the party had 221 branches, and the number must now be 300, many in country places where thorn had not been branches before.”
Replying to a question. Mr Wilson said while the party did not interfere in industrial matters there appeared to bo great hopes that there would be a coalition between the Trades and Labour Council and other organisa--1 ions.
