ROYAL ROMANCE
PRINCESS MARRIES PORTER SISTER OF KING OF IRAQ Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright ATHENS, May 27. (Received May 28, at 11 a.m.) A sensation was caused by the elopement and secret marriage of Princess Assa, the eldest sister of the King of Iraq, to a hotel porter. Desperate efforts by the family to annul the marriage were unsuccessful. The Princess is 30 years of age. She arrived at Athens a fortnight ago with her sister, Rajihah. She was secretlj' baptised according to the rites of the Greek Orthodox Church in the name of Anastassia, and then disappeared from the hotel, the porter (Anastassios Charalembi, aged' 25) vanishing simultaneously. When the marriage was revealed Princess Rajihah called in the police, hut they were powerless. Princess Assa, in a statement, said; “I will not have anything to do with my relatives. I lore, my husband.” The romance began at Rhodes two years ago.
