Elliott stated that if the inspector was in the district at any time ho would be glad to show him where the dogs were tied, the kennels used, and the chains. They were not really' boundary dogs. The Chairman said that if the explanation were correct—and he had no doabt that it was—there was nothing in the complaint, and it was decided to notify the Timaru Society to that effect. INSPECTOR’S REPORT. The inspector (Mr J. J. Hinchclilf) submitted his monthly report, under date May 19. Ho detailed the various places he had visted and particularised allegations of cruelty which he had investigated. None of these had proved of a very serious nature. It was decided to write and thank Mr J. Roberts, Cromwell, a member of the society, for his action in taking steps to have a cow which had been injured while being trucked at the Cromwell railway yards destroyed. The report was adopted. The Chairman remarked that it was gratifying to notice from tho report that the country was looking well and that there should be an ample supply of feed for stock during the winter. He said that it made all the difference to animals in the winter time if a fair amount of feed was available.
