SUPERLATIVE VAUDEVILLE
HART-O'BRIAN REVUE Wealth of detail and acting that soars to the heights of vaudeville artistry are the fundamental impressions that are gained after seeing the _Hart-o’Brian Revue Company. Not since the days when the legitimate stage was so firmly established in the old Princess Theatre lias a flesh-ahd-hlood show of this description given the Dunedin public such a high level of entertainment. 1 Birds of the Night ’ is the name of the revue presented by this _ company under the tegis of 'Sir Benjamin Fuller, and another large house at His_ Majesty’s Theatre last night revelled in the second presentation of a gay and tuneful programme of song, dance, and sketch. The moving light of the vaudeville is Frank O’Brian, a red-headed comedian with a personality and stage presence that command and hold the attention. He sets the standard, and tho remainder of the company adds the sea! to entertainment that should prove very acceptable fare during the season. At 'the' outset Vic Sanderson impresses with a nonchalant exhibition of clever juggling tricks. Then there is “tho man with the cigarettes,” a lively personality named Dave Jones, who amazes by producing lighted cigarettes from the'most unexpected places. His is a bewildering trick only equalled by the perfected agility with which the Three Orlandos perform a dance. A contortionist allows herself to be thrown about with the utmost abandon. Other items that are hugely enjoyed are a dance by Desiree and Montiguc, balancing feats by the Velesco Trio, and of course the programme in which Mr O’Brian is associated with Miss Janice Hart, a comedienne of outstanding ability, Alex Kellaway and Miss Marie Doran contribute vocal numbers, and also participate in several sketches. The ballet of 12 attractive young ladies is quite a feature of the show, _ which has to be seen to be fully appreciated.
