PARERA SOLD
PURCHASED BY HOLM COMPANY Messrs Keith Ramsay Ltd. advise that the Parera has been purchased by the’ Holm Shipping Company Limited and will be engaged in the DunedinNew Plymouth-Waikato trade. The Parera is well known locally, being on a regular run from northern ports to Dunedin shortly before Christmas, when she was replaced by the Awahou. The Parera was built in 1921 by the Goole Shipbuilding and Repairing Company at Goole, Yorkshire, England, and for a while was known as the Glenside. The dimensions of the vessel are: Tonnage—gross 555, net 251; length, 165 feet; beam, 27.1 ft; and depth, 10.7 ft. She was built to the order of Messrs Richardson and Co. Ltd., and prior to her purchase by the Holm Company was engaged in the Lyttelton-Wellington-Napier trade. Captain Kanerva, formerly in charge of the Awahou, is in command of the Parera.
