LEAGUE OF NATIONS UNION
FURTHER RESIGNATIONS POSSIBLE Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, April 30. (Received May 1, at 10 a.m.) The ‘ Morning Post 5 says Lord Queenborough’s resignation portends a crisis in the League of Nations Union. Sir Edward Grigg and Major Hills have resigned from the Executive Committee and further resignations are possible, due partly to the fears of the moderates that the union is becoming over extreme and partly to financial difficulties owing to the expenses of the peace ballot in 1935. [Lord Queenborough resigned the treasurership of the League of Nations Union, whicli he held for 16 years. He stated that the League was no longer a real League of Nations. “I do not see at present that it can function as an effective instrument for peace,” he added.]
