lUNEDIH STOCK EXCHANGE NEW ZEALAND BANKS JUMP Banking share improvements continue on ’Change, the feature of to-day’s call being a sudden jump in New Zoalands. From yesterday's sale price of 44s 3d the market moved up to 45a 6d. with no seller under 48s. Reserves increased 2s yesterday afternoon, and were up still another shilling to £6 6s this morning, without a seller quoting. Insurance shares also met with better inquiry, sales of Nationals and Standards before the meeting being recorded at 18s 6d and £3 2s 6d respectively. Markets closed firm. New Zealands were wanted at 595, but sellers remained 9d away. U.S.S. scrip continued in good demand at 26s 3d, and P. and O.’s were sought at 235, 2s fid below the selling margin. Coal shares were more lively. Kaitangatas had unsupplied buyers at 225, and a similar figure offered for Westports produced a seller Is beyond. Australian miscellaneous stocks were Inclined to be somewhat easier, with the exception of Woolworth’s (Sydney), in which a sale at £7 3s was reported. On ’Change the parties quoted 2s on either side of this price. Local mining was no more brisk than it has been in some time, the only transaction being in Big Rivers, after which buyers continued at the figure accepted (2s), with a seller at 2s l£d. Gillespie’s had a penny margin—ls Id, Is 2d. Some Government stocks were a little easier, and only one seller of recordable value appeared. SALES REPORTED.
