SPECIAL GRANT OF £B,OOO LABOUR OPPOSITION IN HOUSE Fruc Association—By Telegraph—^Copyright LONDON, February 27. r A lively debate took place in the House of Commons when the Labourites .opposed a grant of £B,OOO for an anti-gas school, asked for by the Home Office for training fire brigades, police, ambulance corps,'and Red Cross members. . _ Mr W. G. Ormsby-Gore. said that a suitable house in the centre of 240 acres ~had been found in' Gloucestershire, where the work could safely he carried on. 1 Mr C. G. ’Ammon (Lab.) argued that the vote was likely to lead people into believing, that there was some defence being prepared against gas, and that war was inevitable.

Mr Braken (Con.) described' the opposition as an instance of the Labourites’ futile stupidity. Mr Edward • Williams (LaJ>.) spid that to make the measures effective every man, woman, and child, even cattle, must be fitted with gas masks., The vote was carried by 235 to 114.
