Some of the instructions issued by Government departments would make splendid intelligence tests should the psychologists be in need of new ones. How long does it take you, for instance (inquiries a correspondent of the ‘Manchester Guardian’), to get the gist of the following passage, which is part of a communication issued by the British Ministry of Labour to employers? “ Separate departments in the same premises are treated as separate premises for this purpose where separate branches of work which are commonly carried on as separate businesses in separate premises are carried on in separate departments on the same premises.”
