Mrs Walter Wright, of Hastings, is at present visiting her sister, Mrs Donald Miller, of Exe street, Oamaru. Mrs Wright formerly resided in Oamaru.

A gathering of 20 ladies mot at the residence of Mrs A.G. Thomson, Ravensbourno, on Monday evening, to do honour to Mrs Young who is leaving to take up her residence in Gore, A happy time was scent, with music, games, and competitions, the prizewinners being Mesdames Wills, Pickerill, and C. French. On behalf of those present and those who had sent apologies, Mrs Thomson asked the guest of honour to accept a leather hat box and perfume spray as an expression of thenesteem and sincere good wishes for her future welfare. “In all activities connected with the Anglican Church,” she said, “Mrs Young had always given her willing and efficient assistance. They knew her place would ho hard to fill and they would miss her very much, but she would carry away the friendship of them all in her new sphere of life.” Mesdames Westwood and Pickerill added their tributes to Mrs Young’s popularity. In thanking them for the way they had honoured her, the recipient said she would always treasure the kind thoughts behind their useful gifts and extended a cordial invitation to all to meet her at a farewell tea party at the Vedic before her departure. Before the conclusion Mrs Hawcridge expressed the thanks of all present to their hostels for the pleasant evening they had spent to-gsthcr.

Prior’ to her departure for Dunedin, where she has been transferred on promotion. Miss Avis Bradstock was the guest of honour at several farewell parties in Oamaru, at which place, she has resided for the last two years. During her sojourn in the town Miss Bradstock was frequently called upon to assist at entertainments, and being the possessor 'of a pleasing soprano voice, was a wellknown figure on the Carbarn concert stage. Her services in this connection will be greatly missed in the northern town. On Thursday night Miss Bradstock was farewelled by the St. Paul’s Church Choir, of which she was a member, and was presented with a handsome book of songs. In making the presentation the Rev. Mr M'Kenzie stated that Miss Bradstock had rendered yeoman service to this musical organisation, ' and he expressed good wishes for the future. The recipient suitably replied.
