maternity institution tender PRICE HOT DISCLOSED MEANTIME Mr W. H. Naylor’s tender for the erection of the Queen Mary Maternity Hospital, including the installation ot steam heating, sterilisation plant, ami a lift, was accepted from the five tenders considered by last night a monthly meeting of the Hospital Board, it being decided not to divulge the price in the meantime. r Present at the meeting were Mcssis ,T. \V. Dove (chairman). A. Steele, JM. Silverstone, A. E. Quelcb, D. M'Lennan H S. Sheat, Dr Newlands, Misses Farciuhar and J. Runciman, and Mrs W. Ross. ALTERATIONS APPROVED. Phe Director-General of Health advised that tentative approval had been given to proceed with the working plans and specifications of a new operating theatre and corridors at the Dunedin Hospital. HOSPITAL STATISTICS. Statistics for the month of January, as submitted by the medical superintendent, showed that the total number of patients treated at the Dunedin Hospital was 637. 412 of that number having been admitted during the period reviewed. The number discharged (including those who died) totalled 269, and 268 remained on January 31. The operations performed numbered 162, while in the department there had been 1,871 visits. At the tuberculosis department there had been 152 attendances, at the radiology department 306, at the massage department 1.091 and the number of visits paid and patients visited under the outdoor medical relief section was 352. ■
