The fortnightly meeting of Valley True Blue Lodge was held on Tuesday, W.M. Bro. Campbell presiding. Visitors present included P.M Bro. Jackson and Bro. Steel, of Triumph and Bro. Gerry, of Queen’s Own, Christchurch. It was decided to challenge Loyal Excelsior for the euchre shield, the date to be fixed later. P.G.M. Bro. Harvey conveyed greetings from Star of Southland, and reported on the annual installation of officers, which he attended. A vote -of thanks was accorded the visitors, who suitably responded. After the lodge closed a game of cards filled in the remainder of the evening. At the meeting of Pride of Valley Ladies’ Lodge, held on Tuesday, W.M. Sister Yeoman presided over a fair attendance. The auditors’ report and secretaries’ balance sheets were received and adopted, and showed the financial affairs of the lodge to be in a healthy condition. At the conclusion of the meeting Inst. Bro. Zimmerman congratulated the W. Mistress on the efficient working of the lodge. The regular meeting of Hope of Valley Juvenile Girls’ Lodge was held on Tuesday, W. Mistress Sister Shackleton presiding over a good attendance of officers, and members. Two candidates were initiated. Superintendent Sister Morgan then proceeded with the election of officers, the following members being elected for the year:— W. Mistress, Sister Laing; D.M., Sister Curtis; chaplain, Sister E. Hopwood; secretary, Sister Peggy Harvey; treasurer. Sister Hay; S.E., Sister G. King; J.E., Sister Pearl Harvey; 1.G., Sister Stannnway: 0.G., Sister E. King. Superintendent Sister Taylor and Bro. Steel, of Triumph, were welcomed to the meeting. The competition was won by Sister Pearl Harvey.
