MEETING OF WOMEN'S AUXILIARY The annual business meeting of the women’s auxiliary of the Douglas Social Credit Movement of_ Dunodm was held in the Douglas Social Credit room#, King street. The annual report and balance sheet were read and adopted. It stated that at the first meeting of 1935 it was decided to endeavour to interest as many women as possible through women’s organisations. in Die Douglas Social Credit proposals With this end in view several public lectures were held, which Miss M. H. M. King addressed. Special invitations were sent to members of various women’s organisations. It was gratifying to have a well-filled hall on each occasion. The work in the main had been confined to educational and social activities. The fortnightly meetings had been much enjoyed by members and friends, and many valuable opinions had been exchanged. In addition to this work the members organised a jumble sale in aid of the auxiliary funds, which realised £6 16s lid. The celebration of the fourth anniversary of the birthday party of the movement was held in Dunedin in the Wilson Hall on September 7, when over 200 guests attended. It was pronoimced an unqualified success. The auxiliary also organised and ran a jumble sale on October 5 in aid of the funds of the central branch, and on this occasion was able to hand over to that branch £3 12s 6d. In November a sale of work and produce was held and £7 Os 6d was added to the women’s auxiliary funds. Special mention was made of the yeoman service members of the auxiliary gave during the election campaign, of distributing leaflets and attending meetings and asking questions qf the candidates. Members must be congratulated on the persistence and effectiveness of their efforts to keep vital issues before the election audiences. The attendance at meetings was most satisfactory and the auxiliary could look back with pride oiv its second year of active sendee to its aims. The election results marked a signal advance in the progress of money reform and cast upon the movement the responsibility of ensuring that public attention remains upon the money issue, and in developing a widespread demand for results. It was decided to alter the name from women’s auxiliary, etc., to Douglas Social Credit Women’s Movement, Dunedin Branch.
