CONTACT WITH HIGH VOLTAGE. Hay Nicolson, aged about _ 34, a single man, met with a very serious accident yesterday afternoon when working on the Waikaremoana power scheme. Nicolson was found in an outstation badly burned as a result, it is thought, of coming in contact with a 30,000-vplt line. At present it is unknown how the accident occurred. After first aid had been given the sufferer was conveyed to the Wairoa Hospital. His condition is serious. DROWNED IN SHEEP DIP. The two-year-old son of Alf Brustad, of Waiau, was drowned in a sheep dip at his father’s home yesterday. The child was with his father in the woolshed, and was unobserved for a few minutes. He was found 10 minutes later in the dip. Resuscitation measures failed to restore animation. A doctor was called immediately, but the child was dead. The child’s mother, well known by her maiden name (Miss Aroha Clifford), died when her baby was born. KNOCKED DOWN BY CAR. Francis Mahon, aged 48 years, suffered concussion and injuries to Ins head when ho was knocked down by a motor car yesterday afternoon at the corner of Cumberland and Frederick streets. The injured man, who resides at 724 Cumberland street, was admitted to the hospital for treatment. FINGERS CAUGHT IN SAW. Robert Isbister, aged 48 years, employed by the Otago Chair Company, had two of his fingers of the left hand badly cut when his hand came into contact with a circular saw yesterday afternoon. He was admitted to the hospital at 5.20 p.m. for treatment. Isbister resides at 48 Craigleith street. FALL FROM LADDER. Edmund Perkins, an able_ seaman, aged 27 years, suffered injuries to his back when he fell down a ladder on the steamer Waipiata on Monday at Bluff. He was admitted to the Dunedin Hospital when the vessel arrived from Bluff yesterday morning. COLLISION WITH MOTOR CAR. Cornelius Freeman, aged 40, married, residing at 207 Highgate, was admitted to the hospital at 9.15 a.m. to-day suffering from concussion, shock, and lacerated right hand, received when he collided with a motor car whilst riding his bicycle at the corner of Craw'ford street and Anderson’s Bay road. A MIRACULOUS ESCAPE. Miraculously escaping serious injury when a milk van he was driving crashed into a train at a level crossing in Feudal ton this morning, A. Thain now lies in the hospital with nothing worse than

facial abrasions and shock. The signals were set, and the crossing keeper was in the centre of the road with the stop sign when the van approached. The keeper frantically signalled, but the driver went on and hit the centre of the train. The van was completely wrecked. —Christchurch Press Asoeiation. BODY FOUND IN HARBOUR. At the inquest on Harry Rollinson, aged *6O, a tailor’s cutter, whose body was found in the harbour, a verdict of death by drowning was returned.
