(Received Febfcary 1, at 11 a.m.) Madame Tabouis, writing in ‘ L'CEuvre ’ apropos the alleged secret German-Japanese treaty, says: “Despite the denials of the Wilhelmstrasse, we are in a position to affirm that the Japanese Foreign Minister and the German at Tokio signed a treaty of friendship with the elements of a defensive alliance. [A message received on January 21 stated: The ‘ Morning Post’s 1 Berlin correspondent says: “It has been stated in well-informed political circles that a military agreement _ between Germany; and’ Japan was signed in Tokio on January 4, under which, in the event of either being attacked, the other is pledged to come to its assistance. It need hardly bo said that Russia is the aggressor contemplated 1 .” A later message denied that any military alliance had been completed.]
