nrTi T ATVIfM ARK TO BE DEMOLISHED.—ChaImers Church,’a landmark in York Place for about 50 voars was sold privately yesterday at a figure which is believed to be £l, 000. Another month will elapse before the deal will be finally completed and a start made to demolish the wooden structure to make way for a new residence. The buyer’s name was not disclosed. rinlmers Church was closed last year, the congregation meeting there for the last time on June 9. The Imildimr was bought by the Chalmers congregation in 1889 from the Tr mity Methodists, who worshipped t ere for a few years previously. The first service held in the building by the Chalmers congregation was in Tune isß9 and Dr Stuart, of Knox Church, was the preacher. The last service in the budding was ’ ’ presided over by the Rev. J. Pringle.
