GEORGE RAFT FOR EMPIRE * She Couldn’t Take It ’ will commence a season on Friday at the Empire Theatre, with George Raft and Joan Bennett in the leading roles. Raft, seen as the determined exgangster, Spot Richardi, returns to a comedy-tempered modification of his famous roles in ‘ Scarface,’ ‘ Quick Millions,’ and ‘ Hush Money.’ Miss Bennett plays opposite Raft as the petulant, madcap heiress who gets her own way once too often. Featured in the supporting cast are Walter Connolly, patriarch and patron of his family’s tempestuous escapades ; Billie Burke, as his scatter-brained wife; and Wallace Ford. Briefly, the film relates the banter between Raft and Miss Bennett engendered when Connolly, sent to prison for tax-dodging, _ dies of heart failure and appoints In's felon friend Raft the executor of his estate.
