MURDER OF MONGOL LEADER

LONDON, January 26. The correspondent of ‘ The Times ’ at Peking says the murder of a Mongol leader named Ni, near Chiangpei, has increased the tension in Chahar. Travellers from Chahar report that Mongol leaders, assisted by Manchukuo troops, have occupied nearly all the province north of the Great Wall and established an independent regime with headquarters at Chiangpei. REDS ACTIVE IN KWEICHOW THE CAPITAL THREATENED PEKING, January 27. (Received January 28, at 2 p.m.) Communists under Hsiackeh captured Wengan in Kweichow, and threatened Kweiyuang, the capital of the province. Martial law has been proclaimed, and defences erected. The Government is sending reinforcements and aeroplanes to check the Red advance.
