CONFERENCE 111 HUM The joint annual conference of the New Zealand section of the Institute of Chemistry of Great Britain and Ireland and the New Zealand Institute of Chemistry will be commenced m Dunedin to-morrow. An informal function to-night will be a supper at the Savoy after the arrival of the second express. .

The programme is as follows: — Wednesday.—9.3o a.m., visit to Medical School and afterwards to Messrs W. Gregg and Co.’s worksj 2 p.m., annual meeting, New Zealand Institute of Chemistry (chemistry department,' Otago University),; 2.30, reading, and discussion of papers; 6, annual dinner (Ci»y Hotel); 8, presidential addresses, Mr G. A. Lawrence and Professor Worley. This session will be open, to the public, chemistry . department. Otago nUiversity. Thursday.—9 a.m., committee meeting, New Zealand Institute of Chemistry (chemistry department, Otago University); 9.30, annual meeting, New; Zealand section, Institute of Chemistry of Great Britain and Ireland; .10 to 12.30 p.m., reading and discussion of papers; 2, visit to Cadbury, Fry, Hudson’s factory, and afterwards Speight’s Brewery; 7, ' meeting of council, N.Z.I.C. (University); .8, discussion of matters of professional interest, etc. A special post-sessional trip of three days, covering some of the best parts of the scenic beauties of Otago, has been arranged. The party will leave Dunedin on Friday morning, arriving at Te Anau Hotel that evening. Saturday will be devoted to a trip to the head of the beautiful Eglmton Valley and back to the hotel. On Sunday the party will return to Dunedin by a different route. A motor bus is being engaged for the whole trip.
