IMPROVED STATE DF BEACHES The winds of the past week have had their effect on the local beaches, but these have improved during the last few; days, and should be in good condition for bathing- over the week-end, though! in all cases bathers are strongly warned to keep between the flags which are, of course, placed: in the ■ safest parts of the The St. Clair beach; is-in good order# and the sand is now coming hack# There is a channel off shore which it filling in now.. On Sunday. January 19# the Sumner Life Saving Club team will visit. Dunedin to compete against team* from-ithe St. Clair Club.
the beach is also in improved condition at St. Kilda, but there is still one hole in regard to which care must 1». exercised. At Tomahawk the- sea, is smooth, and the beach is in good, order, apart from one or two holes outside ;th,t: bathing area. In all cases, the temperature of the water is mild.
