AUSTRALIA'S POTATO EMBARGO NEGOTIATIONS HOT YET ENDED Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright HOBART, January 10. (Received January 10, at noon.) The Prime Minister (Air J. A. Lyons) denied the suggestion that the Alinister of Customs (Dr Earle Page) will call at New Zealand to discuss _ a plan whereby Australian citrus fruits might be admitted to the Dominion on condition that New Zealand potatoes would be allowed into Australia. Mr Lyons added that it is not to be understood that trade negotiations with New Zealand have fallen through, but when the negotiations on the issue of the potato embargo, were resumed the Commonwealth Government would, in accordance with the promise made by himself, refer the subjects under discussion to the Federal Potato Council of Australia in the first place. DR PAGE'S PLANS GOING DIRECT TO EUROPE. BRISBANE, January 10, (Received January 10, at 12.15 p.m.) The Minister of Commerce (Dr Earle Page) stated that he did not intend to visit New Zealand and Canada for trade discussions on his way to the World Sugar Conference, He proposed to travel direct to Europe via Suez. Whether he will visit Canada and New Zealand on his way back had still to be discussed by Cabinet.*.
