One of the most popular excursions conducted by the Railway Department is the northern seaside train. There is a Saturday afternoon train north, and one on Sunday morning, with a return train on Sunday night, and on recent Sundays these trains have been taxed to capacity, the average number returning to Dunedin by the Sunday night seaside train from the north being 600. It is estimated that previous records will bo broken this season if the present fine, weather continues.
