WEATHER FORECAST
FAIR I® CLOUDY, The following weather forecast was issued at noon «by the Meteorological Office. Wellington, covering the southern districtr-Dunedin, Port Chalmers, Tapanui, Winton, Invercargill, Riverton, Orepuki, Bluff, Halfmoon Bay:— A slight disturbance is moving slowly across the Dominion. A tropical cyclone is centred south-west of Fiji. Forecast : Light to moderate and variable winds with southerlies prevailing; weather fair to cloudy, with some scattered showers at first, hut improving; temperatures mild; seas slight to mode* rate. " ■■ SULTRY CONDITIONS PREVAIL* Although the thermometer failed toi reach the maximum degrees recorded yesterday, the weather continued warm, and sultry to-day. Light rain fell throughout the night, and;, following an early promise of fine weather, the sky clouded, and towards noon became overcast. Nevertheless, the barometer was rising at 29.6 in, the same as on. the two previous, days’ readings. The noon'temperature was'66.6deg, with a minimum during the morning of 61deg, yesterday’s readings being 68.5 deg and 56.8 deg respectively. The rainfall to midday was ,12in. . ■
