TO REOPEN
DUNEDIN TRAINING COHERE STAFFING ARRANGEMENTS COMPLETED “ We are exceedingly pleased,” Mr J. Wallace (chairman of the Otago Education Board), when asked this morning to comment on the decision to reopen the Dunedin Training College. “ The new Minister has been kind enough to advise me of his intention,” added Mr Wallace. “ The hoard, having full confidence that the Minister would honour liis promise, has already practically made complete arrangements. for the staffing and' reopening of the college by March.” .Mr Wallace said there would be nothing lacking on the board’s part to have everything in readiness for the assembling of the students by midFebruary. All staff positions in the Training College and the Normal School will be advertised in next week’s ‘ Educational Gazette.’ The mayor (Rev. E. T. Cox) has also been advised by the Minister of Education (Hon. P. Fraser) that Cabinet has to reopen the Dunedin Training College, and that the training of students will bo resumed in March. Mr Cox said this would be very welcome news to all those who for so long had been advocating the • wise step which Cabinet had now taken.
