MARIE DRESSLER’S SUCCESSOR?
ALICE BRADY IM ‘LADY TUBBS’ The riotous comedy * Lady Tubbs,’ with Alice Brady in the title role, will be screened for the first time at the Regent on Friday. In this film Miss Brady is said to have earned her title of the successor to Marie Dressier. The story is of a railway camp cook, who, with the fictitious title of Lady Tubbs and a pseudo fortune, launches herself on to the aristocratic Ash-Coutts of Long Island and upon New York society in general. In this difficult task she is aided by one whose identity at the conclusion of the film creates much surprise. • Possibly the most, hilarious episode is' that of the hunt, where “Lady Tubbs” is called upon to follow the hounds. She has had little experience of horsemanship. A charming romance is supplied by Anita Louise and Douglas Montgomery, and an excellent supporting oast includes June Clayworth, Heddo Hopper, and Lumsden Hare, This should prove one of the most popular comedies_ to be shown in Dunedin for some time, and with such an excellent array of favourite artists is sure to attract much support, . ’ - -
