RETURNED SOLDIERS’ AFFAIRS
MEETING OF EXECUTIVE The Executive Committee of the Dunedin Returned Soldiers’ Association met last night, Mr A. Thomas (president) in the chair. The nominations of 22 new members and 10 honorary members were approved. Two transfers o -tward and two transfers inward were approved. It was reported that in the membership campaign contest with the Christchurch R.S.A. the figures at November 30 were; Dunedin 2,259; Christchurch 2,196. On behalf of the Unemployment Committee, Mr A. M'Hutchon reported that £l2l 0s 8d had been spent on special cases, including sums for the relief of soldier settlers who had suffered as the result of the Gatlins fires. This amount had been subsidised by tho Patriotic Society. It had been resolved to make a further sum of £l5O available for the relief of special cases of distress.—'The action of the committee in overspending its grant of £IOO for this purpose was approved. It was, decided that the question of holding a picnic this year should be left to tho Social Committee to arrange and submit the proposal to the executive.
