RIFLE SHOOTING

KIWI CLUB The Kiwi Club fired the final shoot of the No. 2 match on Saturday over 500yds and 600yds on the hill range. The weather was fine, but a. frontal “ fishtail ” wind made good shooting difficult. The conditions were 10 shots (two optional sighters) at each range. The best scores off the rifle were obtained by Riflemen H. Whitehead, W. Crimp, and j.' M'Kinlay, each 88. The best at 500yds was Rifleman W. Mills (47-), and at 600yds Rifleman H. Whitehead (45). The following are the scores, handicaps and prize winners:—

DUNEDIN DEFENCE CLUB The Dunedin Defence Rifle Club shot the final competition for prizes presented by President W. Bannerman :on Saturday afternoon. There was a small attendance, and 10 shots (two optional sightei's) . each were fired at 500yds and 600yds. Weatherconditions were fine, but a variable breeze and bright',light made shooting conditions, rather difficult. The highest score at 500yds was 46, made by Deputy-president J. T. Gillan. At 600yds Riflemen C. Gamble and J. L. Benfell were highest with 45 each, the former taking pride of place on the count back. Following are the scores and aggregates:—

WEST TAIERI CLUB The West Taieri Defence Chib shot ■ the second competition for Mr Webster s prize on Saturday afternoon. Changing light and a cross wind proved very troublesome at times.
