FINE mm MEETING The quarterly meeting of the Fire Board, held last night, - was presided over by Mr E. H. Ferguson, Mr S. E. T, Crimp was present for the first time, having been, appointed to the vacancy caused by Mr H. A. B. Brabant’s resignation. _ The - Under-Secretary of Internal Affairs wrote regarding' fire board loans, and pointing out that draft copies of documents requiring' the Minister’s consent shduld be submitted to the Minister before the documents were executed. Cases were arising from time to time whlre fire ■ boards, pledging property as security for loans, were submitting documents not ■in draft form as previously requested,,but after execution by all parties, which was contrary, to departmental requirements. The Chairman said it did apply to this brigade. * The quarterly report from the brigade stated that the meetings and practices were well attended. The members and the equipment were inspected by the Government inspector, and b« complimented the brigade. The officers and members of the brigade wished to convey Christmas greetings to the chairman and members of the board.. The report was received, and tho board reciprocated the seasonal greetings. The Government Inspector of Fir* Brigades submitted a report oh bis recent .inspection' of the Port Chalmers brigade. The superintendent of the brigade was asked to report'on brigade activities, and as to what could be done to carry out the suggestions of the inspector in • respect to training. , Accounts totalling 18 6d were passed for payment.
