TO FILL PILLOWCASE. Pilling pillowcases with feathers, which is ordinarily a messy job, can be done quickly and easily by using a vacum cleaner. Clean the machine, attach the suction hose to it, and substitute the pillowcase for the dust bag. Tie the open end of the pillowcase securely around the discharge opening of the cleaner. Start the motor and lower the suction hose into the feather container. The feathers will be drawn into the casing, and few of them will be spilled.—A.L. STOP FOR GARAGE DOOR. The usual method of propping garage doors to hold them open, may he abolished by providing an automatic stop. A short post is sharpened at one end and driven into the ground near the open position of door. Two short strips of wood about Tin x 3in x Sin in dimension are hinged together at one end. A coil spring is fastened between the strips to raise the free end of the upper strip. The ends of the spring are stapled down. The lower strip is nailed to the post, so that the hinged end points toward the door tvhen it is opening. When the door is swung open the bottom strikes the inclined plane of the upper strip, and after depressing it slips over the end; the spring then lifts the strip and prevents the door from closing. A post should be placed beyond the stop to keep the door from swinging open too far. When driving the post into tho ground care should be taken that it is sunk deep enough for the door to slip over it comfortably.— H.C.
