BROKEN ENGAGEMENT
WOMAN AWARDED DAMAGES CONTRACTED AND ABANDONED BY TELEGRAM [Pee United Press Association.] WELLINGTON, August 13. An award of £BS damages in » breach of promise action was made in the judgment of Mr Justice Blair in a case in the Supreme Court tq-day. The plaintiff was Doris May Brindle, who claimed £250 general and £l2O special damages from George Harrison. He became engaged by cable with plaintiff in England, arranging for her to come out, but afterwards abruptly breaking off the arrangement, again by cable. Plaintiff came out to New Zealand, and the special damage claims included the cost of passage, trousseau, bedding, linen, and some cutlery.
