SCOTTISH SOCIETY SOCIAL

The monthly social and dance of the Scottish Society was held on Saturday, a large number of members and friends being present. The vice-president (Mr Jas. Caldwell) was piped to the platforai by the official piper, Mr N. MacPherson, and a hearty welcome was extended to all ‘members and visitors., The sympathy of tho society was extended to all members at .present on the sick list. ■ Items were given by Mrs Hastie, Master Ivan Douglas, Miss Jean M'Gregor, tho Misses Taylor (two lady pipers); dance items hy Master Jim Flett, Miss A. Ramsay, Miss L. Ross, Miss M. MacPherson, Miss N. Matheson, Miss Betty Brown. During, the evening a presentation was made to Mrs Duff for the splendid service rendered to the society while convener of the Ladies’ Social Committee. On behalf of the Ladies’ Committee Mi's J. Stewart (convener) presented Mrs Duff with a crystal vase, and on behalf of tho society the chairman (Mr W. P. Smith) presented an oak timepiece with the best wishes of all friends. Mr Peter Duff suitably replied on behalf of Mrs Duff. Mr J. Collie and Mr J. Ramsay were M.C.s, Mr-N. MacPherson and Mr W. Matheson official pipers. The Monte Carlo prizes were won by Mr H. Smith and Miss Matheson. Miss, Matheson and Mr MacGlashan supplied the dance music, »
