Valley True Blue Lodge held its fortnightly meeting on Tuesday, W.M. Bro. Campbell presiding over a good attendance of members. The auditor’s report was submitted and adopted, and showed the lodge finances to be in a healthy condition, although, in common with other societies, there was the problem of outstanding dues to solve. ' It was decided to improve the facilities in; the lodge room, and this should be of great benefit.' Several members expressed appreciation of the annual L.O.L. church, parade, held at First Church on Sunday last, the service being conducted by the Rev. W. Stevely. A good representation from the lodge took part in the parade. It was decided to hold,the annual dance on August 27. A vote of thanks was accorded the visitors, and was responded to by P.M. Bro. Weir, of Triumph No. 9. After the lodge closed, Pride of Valley ladies paid a visit to play off a challenge for the Euchre Shield. A very enjoyable contest resulted, Valley True, Blue retaining the trophy. There was a good attendance at the fortnightly meeting of Pride of Valley Ladies’ Lodge, W. Mistress Sister Gumming'presiding. Two candidates were initiated. Sister Robertson and .Sister Harvey were appointed lodge trustees in addition 1 to Sister Currie. Visitors included P.G.M. Bro. Harvey and P.M. Bro. Graves, of Valley True Blue, who installed Sister /Smith as Chaplain of the lodge. A hearty welcome was accorded the visiting officers, who suitably responded. After business had been disposed of, members adjourned to Valley True Blue Lodge to play off a challenge for the Euchre Shield. Although unsuccessful an enjoyable evening was spent. There was a splendid attendance of members at Hope of Valley Juvenile Girls’ Lodge, Sister Knox presiding. Visitors included Triumph Juveniles Superintendents Sister Mathewson and Bro. Perrin, Valley True Blue Juveniles with Superintendents Bros. Campbell and Drysdale and Dr Harty. The medical officer gave a very interesting and instructive lecture _ to the members on the subject of simple ailments; which was very much enjoyed by all. At the conclusion of the lecture W. Mistress Sister Knox conveyed the thanks of members to Dr TUrty. and honed that at some future date th°v mhrht have him with then again. Dr Harty suitably responded.
