CORONER COMMENDS CARE

PEDESTRIANS CROSSING STREETS {PiR United Press Association.] PALMERSTON NORTH, July 19. The necessity for pedestrians observing extreme care in crossing streets was emphasised by Mr A. J. Graham, coroner, at the inquest on William Edward Turner (67), who died as the result of injuries received in a collision witlr a motor truck driven by Claude Dustin, of Waitptara, on July 6. On returning a verdict of accidental death, the coroner said no blame was attachable to the driver. “ This emphasises the need for pedestrians to exercise extreme precautions. All accidents are not the fault of car drivers. In this case deceased apparently failed to look both ways before crossing the road.” The evidence showed that deceased suddenly emerged from behind another vehicle on to the track of the oncoming truck. -
