NEW SECRETARY TO TREASURY
MR G. C. RCDDA APPOINTED FAREWELL FUNCTION TO HR PARK fPr.R, United Press Association.l WELLINGTON, June 28. The Hon. A, Hamilton, Acting Minister of Finance, announced to-day that the Public Service Commissioner had appointed Mr G. C. Eoddn. present assistant secretary to the Treasury, as Secretary to the Treasury in succession to Mr A. D. Park, C.M.G., who is 'retiring to take up one of the managing directorships of the Mortgage Corporation of New Zealand. The announcement of Mr Rodda’s appointment was made by the Minister at a departmental farewell at the Treasury to Mr Park, and it was greeted with applause. Mr Rodda received personal congratulations from Mr Hamilton, Mr Park, and the members of the staff. Close on 100 members of the Treasury Department assembled in farewell to Mr A. D. P.ark, and Mr Hamilton in making the presentation of a six-valve wireless set from the Treasury staff to Mr Park, paid tribute to the retiring secretary, and to the department as a whole, it was a pleasure to be present and to express appreciation of loyal and able service, he said. Mr Park had been head of the Treasury for five and ahalf years, and had been called upon to deal with many difficult and abnormal conditions. _ His work had given complete satisfaction to the Government. Mr Park suitably replied.
