' EXECUTIVE MEETING There was a large attendance at the monthly meeting of the Otago Executive Council of the League of Nations Union. Correspondence from the dominion secretary directed attention to the film ‘•Forgotten Men,’ in which General - Sir lan Hamilton whs one of the actors. This film would shortly appear in Dunedin. The letter also stated that the | League of Nations Union annual con- ! ference would-, take place in Wellington on .August 28 'and 29. Remits were invited. - ■ Discussion followed on the draft revision of the constitution, certain amendments being proposed. Members submitted remits for the conference. concerning the ratification by the New Zealand Government of those conventions of the International Labour Conference, already approved by New Zealand, many of which arc statable to the legislation of the do- 1 minion. The Government, it is pro- 1 posed, 1 should be congratulated on sending a delegation to this year’s-Interna-tional Labour Conference. 1 \ Remits were prepared for the domin- 1 ion conference of the National Council of Women, which will meet in Dunedin during September. ' Two special articles in ‘Headway’ Were , reviewed as a basis for local activity. The Birmingham scheme was referred to. the Secondary Schools Education Committee with a* request for its renort next month. ; Thc treasurer reported that all local i liabilities had been discharged, leaving only a small credit balance. -
