FINE AND MILDER, RAIN BREWING The following .weather forecast was issued at noon by the Meteorological Office. Wellington, covering the south-, ern district—Dunedin. Port Chalmers, Tapanui, Winton, Invercargill, River* ton, Orepuki, Bluff, Halfmoon Bay:—* A fairly intense anti-cyclone is centred east of the South Island, while a shallow depression covers the Western Tasman Sea. Forecast: Moderate but freshening northerly winds. Weather; fine and milder, but clouding over tomorrow, with rain developing. Sea* smooth to moderate. CLEAR AND SUNNY. Sunshine continued throughout yes. terday afternoon, though last night was again cold. To-day was clear and sunny, arid the light north-easterly wind made prospects decidedly more pleasant for the afternoon’s sport than on either of the two previous Satur. days. At noon the barometer wa* steady at 30.1 in, while the temperature was 50deg, the minimum for the morning being 46.4 deg. Yesterday’s temperature for the 24 hours were 52 sdeg| and 42deg respectively. There was na rain during that period and no frost*
