FISH LOCATED
ECHO-SOUNDERS USED OSLO, April 19. For the first time in the history of the Norwegian fisheries the echo-sound-ing system has been used to locate fish, and with great success. A vessel equipped with echo-sounders cruised outside the Lofoten coasts, where the cod fisheries are now at their height, and discovered a great school of fish running about one and a-qnarter miles in the direction north-south and about a-quar-ter of a mile east-west at a depth of some 240 ft. The observation ship immediately signalled her find to' the waiting fishing fleet, which made for the spot at top speed.
