CELEBRITY CONCERT
On Saturday, May 18, at 8 p.m.. the big Celebrity concert will bo held in the Town Hall for the mayor’s relief fund. It will be seen from- the programme that an excellent selection has been made. Liouello Cecil, the Australian operatic tenor, will sing ‘, Vesti La Giubba ’ (Leoncavallo), ‘English Rose’ (German), ‘La Donna' E Mobile ’ (Verdi); Mr John Robertson, champion cornetist, will play ‘ Post ‘) Horn Galop’ (Koenig), ‘My Heaven of Love ’ (Goldmark), and 4 Until ’ (Sanderson), and the St. Kilda Band will play his accompaniments; Miss Mary Pratt’s contralto numbers arc ‘Harbour Night Song’ (Sanderson),' : ‘ Love’s Old Sweet Song’ (Molloy); Mr Walter Kingsley, celebrated English baritone, will sing 4 Border Ballad ’ (Cowen), ‘I Travel the Road’ (Thayer), and 4 The Legion of the Lost’ (West); Mr Paul Vinogradoff, - eminent Russian pianist, will play ‘ Prelude in G Minor ’ (Rachmaninoff), ‘Nocturne in F Sharp ’ '(Chopin), ‘ Russian" Fantasie ’ (arr. Vinogradoff) ; Lionello Cecil and Walter Kingsley appear in duets, ‘ln This Solemn Hour’ (Verdi), ‘Quivering Hour’ (Verdi); the St. Kilda Band (champions or New Zealand), under Mr J. V Dixon, will play march ‘Fighting Strength’ (Jurrnan). selection ‘‘William Tell’ (Rossini), overture ‘ Zampa ’ (Herald), and march ‘ Wellington ’ (Zeble). The_ orchestra accompaniments to the singers will be played by the Concert Orchestra, eon- , ducted fay Mons. de Rose. As on former occasions, Dunedin will be very much in the limelight, and the impression made at the last celebrity .concert, when Senia Chostiakoff and Madame Elsa Stfalia scored distinct triumphs' and all receipt records in New Zealand were shattered._ still remains with the Dunedin public, which can be counted on to give the concert on Saturday night’s effort the support it deserves.
