A man walked into a shop and asked for a pair of boots. The assistant, a youth of 14, showed him a suitable pair, tho price being 16,s 6d. Tlio customer stated that he had only 13s 6d with him, and inquired if he could pay that and bring the balance next day. He was told he could. After the easterner had left, the proprietor reprimanded tho assistant for allowing the man to take the hoots, saying they would never sec him again. “ Oh, but we shall,” replied the youth. “ I wrapped up two hoots for the left foot, so he’s bopnd to come back.”
