TECHNICAL GW SPORTS CHAMPWNSjiIPS KEENLY CONTESTED The annual girls’ swimming sports of the King Edward Technical High School were held. at the Municipal Baths yesterday afternoon, and in both senior and junior championships the events wore very keenly contested, some good performances being registered. The senior championship was won by Miss Islay Purdie, who had a very close tussle with her dubraate. Miss Chrissie Knowles (who -was runner-up in the New Zealand junior girls’ breast stroke championship this year). Miss Purdic, who entered interclub competition only this year, showed very pleasing all-round ability, and took the championship cup with 13 points. Miss Knowles who also showed good allround form, being runner-up with 12 points Two club mates filled the position ol first and runner-up in the junior championship, these being Miss Maud Stewart and Miss Greta Harris respectively. I also members of the Kiwi Club. Miss Stewart, who is a much improved swimmew won with 10 points, and, like the senior champion, is in her first season of interclub competition. Miss Harris was runner-up with 8 points. The handicap events also provided keen competition, the most successful competitor being Miss Winnie Dunn.

The programme was put through in good time, and reflected great credit on those responsible for the organisation of the meeting.
