Arrangements are now well in hand for tho big charity concert organised by 4YA. Visiting overseas artists arc to take part, and the programme promises to be ono of the brightest-of this year’s season. It is to be held in tho Town Hall on Saturday, May 18. # * * « Those who listen to tho Christchurch community sings will be interested to know that Dr Frank A’Court, who is a member of the Christchurch Harmonic Society, which appears at the Town Hall to-night, is visiting the city. Dr A’Court, in conjunction with Mr Alan Brown, has worked strenuously as. pianist at the community singing sessions, and has friends in all parts of tho country. No doubt many receivers will be tuned to 4YA to-morrow night, when Ralph Connor, the novelist, who is at present visiting the city, will give a talk at 9.30. • * * * Renewals of licenses in Dunedin for the current year arc being made in big batches every day, but no figures as to the total renewed or the number outstanding are available yet, It is particularly noticeable that most of those who expressed an intention not to renew this venr were amongst the first to take out new licenses, • * » « ‘ The Romance of Melody ’ is ' the apt title given to a new series of recordings that is to be used in the 4YA “Music, Mirth, and Melody ” sessions.
