ARRIVED.—ApriI 2. Wainui, s.s. (6.35 a.m.), 1,633 tons, Howie, from Bluff. MOVEMENTS ON THE COAST. Waimarino arrived from Bluff this morning and is to sail to-night for Napier and Gisborne via ports. Gale was expected to arrive this afternoon from the north and she is to sail to-night for Oamaru, Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, Picton, and Wanganui. Kairanga is due from Timaru to-mor-row. After completion of her discharge she will sail later in the day for Westport. Orepuki was to leave Wellington today, and is due on Thursday. She is to sail the same day for Nelson and New Plymouth via Oamaru, Timaru, and Lyttelton. Holmdale is due to-mofrow from Wellington and is to sail later in the day for Wellington f Picton, and Wanganui via Oamaru, Timaru, and Lyttelton. Wingatui left Auckland yesterday for Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin, She is duo on Saturday, and is to sail on Monday for Oamaru. Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, and Auckland. Breeze is due on Friday to load for Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, Picton, and Wanganui. INTERISLAND EXPRESS. The interisland express steamer Rangatira reached Lyttelton from Wellington at 6.50 a.m. to-day. Passengers and mail for the south connected with the express. MAHIA LEAVES BALBOA. The Mahia, en route from Liverpool to Auckland, Wellington, .Lyttelton, Dunedin, and Timaru, cleared Balboa on March 27. She is due at Auckland bn April 17. HAURAKI FROM PACIFIC COAST. The Union Company advises that the Hauraki was to leave Wellington to-day for Lyttelton and Dunedin with cargo from the Pacific coast of America. She is due on Friday, and is to sail tho same day for Vancouver via Sydney and the Islands. HURUNUI FROM LIVERPOOL. The New Zealand Shipping Company’s steamer Hurnuuj was scheduled to arrive at Auckland yesterday from Liverpool. Tho vessel has cargo from West Coast ports of Great Britain for discharge at Auckland, Napier, Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin. TANKER OILRELIANOE. The tanker Oilreliance arrived at Auckland on Sunday morning from Datum (Black Sea). The vessel has a cargo of petrol, and will unload at Auckland. Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin. MAMARI AT LONDON. The Shaw. Savill and Albion steamer Mamari readied London from New Zealand on March 25. She was despatched from Wanganui on February 9. PERSONAL. Captain A.’ H. Howie, formerly of the Poolta. has replaced Captain C. C. Waters as master of the Wainui. Captain Waters has taken command of the Poolta. Mr J. T. Weir has joined the Taupata as first engineer, relieving Mr D. J. Patou. FOG SIGNAL AT TIRI TIRI. Tho Marine Department advises that a diaphone fog signal, sounding one blast of three seconds’ duration every minute will be established on or about April 30 at Tiri Tiri, Matangi, in the Hauraki Gulf. TROJAN STAR ON THURSDAY. Messrs H. L. Tapley and Co. advise that the Trojan Star is to leave Wellington to-night for Dunedin. She is due on Thursday morning to discharge her Home cargo. TUENTBANK TO-MOHROW. Advice lias been received from Messrs H. L. Tapley and Co. that the Trentbank is to leave Lyttelton to-night for Dunedin., She is due to-morrow afternoon, j'.nd will berth at Ravcnsbourne to discharge phosphates from Nauru Island. The vessel will later come to Dunedin to complete discharge.

CANADIAN VICTOR COMING. Messrs H. L. Tapley and Co.' report that the Canadian Victor, with cargo from Canada, is due to-morrow afternoon from Halifax via northern ports. WAITAKI FROM AUSTRALIA. The Union. Company advises that the Waitaki is to leave Melbourne to-mor-row for Bluff and Dunedin. She is due on Tuesday next. .. CARGO FROM SYDNEY. The Kalingo was to leave Sydney today for Bluff and Dunedin with cargo. She is due at this port on Tuesday. OMANA COMING. The Omana, which left Adelaide on March 39 for Bluff and Dunedin, is due next Tuesday. IMPERIAL STAR AT LONDON. After a very smart trip from Port Chalmers, the Imperial Star arrived at London on March 26. She left Port Chalmers on February 24, and her elapsed time was thirty days. SULTAN STAR’S RECORD TRIP. During her stay at Wellington the Sultan Star will have a greyhound fitted to her masthead to signify that she is the speediest ship in the Blue Star fleet on the run between London and New Zealand. She is the greyhound of the Pacific, qualifying for this title by her present trip to New Zealand by covering the distance in 29 days 34 minutes—a record. Her actual steaming time was 28 days 6 hours 15 minutes. The average speed for the trip was 16.95 knots, and the average speed from Balboa to New Zealand 17.1 knots. Eight days of rough weather were experienced in crossing the Atlantic ; otherwise the time would have been even better. Last Friday the chief officr, Mr H. Palmer, had the greyhound gilded preparatory to having it placed on the masthead. The Sultan Star is propelled by turbines, and her engine room staff is . proud of the vessel’s achievenient. The Sultan Star also holds .the record for the trip from New Zealand to London. IN. RADIO RANGE.
