THE SHADE MARKET

DVNEIiH STOCK EXCHANGE Business tkis morning was confined to two sales in gold mining shares. Very few changes were recorded in the quotations. National Insurances inclined to case slightly, with sellers at 20s lOcl. There were signs of returning confidence in meat preserving shares, Southlands and Refrigerating® being firmer. Westport Coals had a closer market, through buyers offering 2d more, and Kaitangatas were also in good demand. Quotations were received for all the issues in Woolworth’s, and were on a par with last week’s rates. New Zealand Breweries were firm, anti Carltons were still on offer at 50s. Buyers offered 3d more for Mount Lyolls without receiving a reply. Big Rivers hardened to sellers at 2s 6d after a sale at the improved price of 2s 4d. King Solomons eased considerably following the announcement by the chairman of directors that the mine has not been sold to English interests. Every issue of Government Loans had a buying quotation, and sellers continued scarce. SALES. Reported.'—-Bendigo Goldlighi, Is. On 'Change.—Big River, 2s 4d.
