NORTHERN CLUB The annual meeting of the Northern Harrier and Amateur Athletic Club was held last week. There was a good attendance of members, presided over by the president (Mr J. Dunn). Armishaw; deputy-captain, Mr D. Fincham; secretary, Mr G. King; treasurer, Mr J. Bolitho; reporters. Messrs N. Jefferson and E. Brown; auditor, Mr R. Bruce; handicappers—the trainer, captain, and deputy-cap-tain ; trainers, Messrs J. Jackson and J. Yates; General Committee—Messrs M. Griffiths, I. Chapman, B. Haugh; delegate to Otago Centre, Mr G. D. Armishaw. ' The opening i\Uir was fixed for April 6, the official opening of the club to be held from Dunaas street on April 13. THE CUTHBERT CUP WON BY VAL Eleven starters went to the line for the seventh and final series of club races conducted by the Ravensbourne Boating Club on Saturday afternoon, when the Guthbcrt Cup event whs decided. There was a good sailing breeze from the south. The race was full of interest and the lead was constantly changing. Finally Val, with J. M‘Laren at the tiller, made good time on the run to leeward and was awarded first place. Corrected times gave the following placings:—Val, J. M'Laren (4min), 4h BOmiu 16sec, 1; Winifred, W. Wray (lOmin), 4h oOrain 45sec, 2; Irex, J. Hannah : (3min), 4h 51min 41sec, 3. Also started: Betty (smin). Rascal (23niin), Miti (scr), Eileen (s.3omin), Toroa (I2min), Iris (23mih), Mavis (lomin), Squib (6min). The club also raced off a series of model yacht races, these being keenly contested by the local boys. The results were as follow; A Class.—Britannia (N. Johnston) 1, Echo (L. Dickinson) 2, Runa (D. Seaton) 3. There were nine starters. B Class.—Roscday (N. Montgomery) 1. Winifred ■ (M. • 'Montgomery) _ 2, Thelma (C. George) 3. There were eight starters.
