UNIVERSITY SWIMMERS
The University swimming championships will be decided at the Municipal Baths to-morrow night, and some mteJv csting competition should be witnessed. The competitors include the New Zealand University champion, D. H. Symes, who is also the national 440yds champion. Symes is a much improved swimmer, having had coaching from Jean Tills, but lie will not have matters all Ills own way, as his opponents over 220yds and 440ycis vvill include J. Neville, the brilliant Taranaki swimmer who performed so well at the national championships at Auckland. There will be good racing m the. breast stroke and women’s events, and a special attraction will be a display by W. J. Jarvis, New Zealand 100yds and 220yds champion, while P. E. Matbieson, New Zealand 150yds backstroke champion will also give an exhibition. A team from H.M.S. Sussex will meet an R.N.V.R. team at water polo and in a special relay. Several interclub handicaps are also included on the programme.
