FINES INFLICTED

As a result of the raid, Alberti Khouri, aged forty, ’proprietor of that club, and described as a bookmaker* was fined £IOO on a charge of keeping a common gaming house, .in default three months’ imprisonment. He pleaded guilty. William Bowyer* aged forty-eight, a labourer, for assisting in keeping a common gaming house, was fined. £SO, in detault two months’ imprisonment. The magistrate dismissed the cases against these three men on condition. that they paid £lO into court for the mayor’s coal and blanket fund. In all the other cases the men were convicted, and fines up to £o were inn posed.
