In a quarter-final of the Harrow tournament Austin defeated Stedman (New Zealand), 6-3, 6-7, 6-4. 1 The Times ’ says : “ Austin paid the price of slackening in the second set when Stedman, who was down 1-6, won six, games in succession, every one of which he earned with slashing forehand shots. In the third set he pressed Austin hard, the Englishman’s victory proving very unsatisfying.'’
