SUNSHINE GIRL
She was only sis or seven, and her proper name was Joan, But Grannie called her “Sunshine Girl ” instead; “ She comes to cheer old people when their own young birds have flown; — She’s just a ray of sunshine,” Grannie said. . And others called her Pansy, for so pretty were here eyes, As if they didn’t quite know which to be. They aimed at grey, and purple, and the colour of the skies, And managed in the end to be all three! We cannot all have petals of a pansy for our eyes— Wo cannot alt be six years old, or so; We cannot all be Joans, of course, but each one, if she tries, Can be a little Sunshine Girl, I know.
