THE FLOWER GARDEN
Continue to plant all varieties of bulbs into their flowering quarters; also where ready, transplant sweetwilliams, wallflowers, and all spring flowering plants. Make sowings of sweet peas for early cutting, either into boxes or paper pots, or into the trenches where’ they are to flower. Where large flowers are required I would advise sowing in paper pots; then plunge the pots into the trench where the plants are to flower. In this way the plants do not receive a cheek, and the paper pot rots and the young roots will feed on it. Never remove the paper pots from any plants when planting. All soft-rooted plants do much better where the pot is plunged into the soil with the plants.
